ARTIST STATEMENT
The work produced from this term has really been an exploration in idea and style. It acted as a transition into a new era of content for me. There was a definite style and content utilized in high school which in itself was its own era, but this semester really allowed me to branch out from that mold I had created for myself. By pushing assignments to have more parameters than necessary it helped me spark more creativity and push the works conceptually as well. With the tool box adding the wire material pushed the piece to be more than it would have been. With the group project it was making multiple forms that would have a conversation, and with the wooden frame it was making it a frame of other sorts and adding a hinge mechanism to spark viewer interaction. Additionally with the final assignment it became a challenge of scale, putting myself under some added pressure. This final piece is one that is the most true to this path of exploration and to be the most unlike my previous style. I also find it to be a key piece that I wish to explore in different settings, size and compositions for future works.
